MINISTRY OF SILLY WALKS

A man claiming to be a Christian has embarked on a walk from Birmingham to London to 'repent' of what he describes as his 'homophobia.'

Symon Hill, who is said to be the director of a fringe group called Ekklesia, will take 17 days to saunter the 160 miles to Hyde Park, where he will join the London 'Gay Pride' march on Saturday 2nd July. The 30-something writer says he has been 'training' with his friend Chris for his arduous under-10-miles-a-day stunt which will occupy some three hours a day.

Hill's "pilgrimage of repentance", as he describes it, began last night at Carr's Lane Methodist Church in central Birmingham. Two other churches have agreed to give him a platform along the way as he goes about 'challenging the Church as a whole to repent of homophobia and to think differently about sexuality.'

EMOTIONAL BAGGAGE

Hill claims to have imbibed homophobic attitudes following his conversion to Christianity in his 'late teens.' In a blog post 'Why I'm Walking' he says how ashamed he is at voting against the ordination of practising homosexuals as ministers in his early twenties.

He writes: 'I also harmed my own integrity by suppressing feelings that seemed to go against the human construction that I imagined to be God's rules for my sexuality.' It does not take much reading between the lines to conclude that the poor man is carting some emotional baggage down the byways.

It is difficult not to liken Hill's stroll to the Ministry of Silly Walks of Monty Python fame, (don't forget to right-click and open in a new tab or window) in which John Cleese strutted about trying to look important in a bowler hat.

SUB-CHRISTIAN SUPPORTERS

Indeed, it is hard to take any of Hill's stunt seriously at all.  He is supported by 'eleven national organisations' but when you look at them, they are the usual pro-gay sub-Christian suspects, including the dodgy Ekklesia (of course), the Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement, Accepting Evangelicals, Bisexual Index, Changing Attitude, the Student Christian Movement, 'Inclusive Church' and Greenbelt Festival.  Ultra-liberal churches and Quakers complete the mix.

Even the two prominent individuals supporting him have a chequered past. Bishop Richard Harries, now Lord Harries, has opposed every Christian initiative and supported every move of sexual license in the House of Lords, voting for easier divorce, and relentlessly for homosexual men to have legal access to teenagers. The other is Peter Tatchell, so avid a supporter of paedophilia that he contributed to a book called 'Betrayal of Youth' ('BOY' - get it?) published by the Paedophile Information Exchange in the 1980s.

REPENT OR BACKSLIDE?

The very foundation of Hill's enterprise is shaky. After all, even though repent means to 'turn away from', can you really repent of righteousness or do you backslide from it?

What next will Symon be urging us all to 'repent' of? Will it be of trying to be holy as God is holy? Or of loving one's neighbour as oneself? Or urging those of us in faithful marriages to repent of our lack of adultery? Should we repent of 'all goodness and righteousness and truth' (Eph 5:9) or of 'love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,' (Gal 5:22)?

Of course, in the intervening thirteen years, Symon Hill has not exactly been idle in promoting left-wing causes. He has written for the Guardian, the communist Morning Star, the Quaker publication 'The Friend' and Third Way.  He is a signatory to the Common Wealth statement of Christians committed to what they see as economic justice and opposing the government's cuts. He organised a "Church Crawl" in 1998 to raise Christian awareness of depression. He later oversaw media relations for the Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) and was part of the team that took the UK government to court in 2007-08 over BAE's Saudi arms deals. We might agree with some of that, but, to be frank, Hill really has had to scape the bottom of the barrel for anything not screamingly right-on in his politically-correct past.

SYMON SAYS; OR JESUS SAYS?

In defending the stunt Symon Hill wrote: "As Paul repeatedly tells us, Christ fulfils the Law and makes it possible to live by God's Spirit. It is this Spirit, not the values, priorities and prejudices around us, that we are called to follow." And this is said without a trace of irony as he slavishly trots along after the pro-gay spirit of the age.

And furthermore: "I believe that Christians should speak up for sexual ethics rooted in the values of Jesus." Now, what is it that Jesus specifically said about sexual ethics? In Mark 10:6-8 we read:

"But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh."

And being 'one flesh' in the God-ordained complementarity of union between the two sexes and in its expression in sexual intercourse is something that a pair of homosexuals can never do.  Churches should be reaching out ministering the salvation and healing power of Jesus Christ to the poor individuals trapped in homosexuality, not encouraging them on their walk to hell.  Whatever happened to 'pulling people out of the fire' these days?

Absent photos

Hi friends, sorry about the absence of photos on my last blog I copired & pasted an email I received & although the text copied it appears the photos didn't. They show a mass Hamas wedding with 450 brides under 10. The pictures from London show Muslims demonstrating & holding banners that say "Behead all those who insult Islam", "Exterminate all those who insult Islam", "Europe your 9/11 is coming" etc.

We need to wake up to the threat of this 5TH COLUMN in our midst.

I just wonder what is so great about being a Muslim.

Make sure you read the paragraph (in red) towards the end.          Joys of Muslim Women       by Nonie Darwish In the Muslim faith a Muslim man can marry a child as young as 1 year old and have sexual intimacy with this child, consummating the marriage by 9.  The dowry is given to the family in exchange for the woman (who becomes his slave) and for the purchase of the private parts of the woman, to use her as a toy. Even though a woman is abused, she cannot obtain a divorce. To prove rape, the woman must have (4) male witnesses. Often after a woman has been raped, she is returned to her family and the family must return the dowry.  The family has the right to execute her (an honour killing) to restore the honour of the family. Husbands can beat their wives 'at will' and the man does not have to say why he has beaten her. The husband is permitted to have 4 wives and a temporary wife for an hour (prostitute) at his discretion. The Shariah Muslim law controls the private as well as the public life of the woman. In the Western World (UK) Muslim men are starting to demand Shariah Law so the wife cannot obtain a divorce and he can have full and complete control of her.  It is amazing and alarming how many of our sisters and daughters attending American Universities are now marrying Muslim men and submitting themselves and their children unsuspectingly to the Shariah law. By passing this on, enlightened women may avoid becoming a slave under Shariah Law. Ripping the West in Two. Author and lecturer Nonie Darwish says the goal of radical Islamists is to impose Shariah law on the world, ripping Western law and liberty in two. She recently authored the book, Cruel and Usual Punishment: The Terrifying Global Implications of Islamic Law. Darwish was born in Cairo and spent her childhood in Egypt and Gaza before immigrating to America in 1978, when she was eight years old.  Her father died while leading covert attacks on  Israel .  He was a high-ranking Egyptian military officer stationed with his family in Gaza .  When he died, he was considered a "shahid," a martyr for jihad.  His posthumous status earned Nonie and her family an elevated position in Muslim society.  But Darwish developed a skeptical eye at an early age.  She questioned her own Muslim culture and upbringing.  She converted to Christianity after hearing a Christian preacher on television. In her latest book, Darwish warns about creeping Shariah law - what it is, what it means and how it is manifested in Islamic countries. For the West, she says radical Islamists are working to impose Sharia on the world.  If that happens, Western civilization will be destroyed.  Westerners generally assume all religions encourage a respect for the dignity of each individual.  Islamic law (Sharia) teaches that non-Muslims should be subjugated or killed in this world. Peace and prosperity for one's children is not as important as assuring that Islamic law rules everywhere in the Middle East and eventually in the world. While Westerners tend to think that all religions encourage some form of the golden rule, Sharia teaches two systems of ethics - one for Muslims and another for non-Muslims.  Building on tribal practices of the seventh century, Sharia encourages the side of humanity that wants to take from and subjugate others. While Westerners tend to think in terms of religious people developing a personal understanding of and relationship with God, Sharia advocates executing people who ask difficult questions that could be interpreted as criticism. It's hard to imagine, that in this day and age, Islamic scholars agree that those who criticize Islam or choose to stop being Muslim should be executed. Sadly, while talk of an Islamic reformation is common and even assumed by many in the West, such murmurings in the Middle East are silenced through intimidation. While Westerners are accustomed to an increase in religious tolerance over time, Darwish explains how petrol dollars are being used to grow an extremely intolerant form of political Islam in her native Egypt and elsewhere. In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the U.K. to elect the Prime Minister by themselves! Rest assured they will do so.  You can look at how they have taken over several towns in the USA .   Dearborn Mich. is one; and there are others. I think everyone in the U.K. should be required to read this, but with the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on! It is too bad that so many are disillusioned with life and Christianity to accept Muslims as peaceful; some may be but they have an army that is willing to shed blood in the name of Islam, the peaceful support the warriors with their finances and own kind of patriotism to their religion.  While America is getting rid of Christianity from all public sites and erasing God from the lives of children the Muslims are planning a great jihad on America . The International Centre for Research on Women estimates that there are 51 million child brides now living on planet earth and almost all in Muslim countries. Twenty-nine percent of these child brides are regularly beaten and molested by their husbands in  Egypt ; twenty six percent receive similar abuse in  Jordan . Every year, three million Muslim girls are subjected to genital mutilation, according to UNICEF.  This practice has not been outlawed in many parts of  America . Vote in November to keep Muslims-Sharia Law out of Supreme Court and judges, the White House, and politics.   People are unaware! What's wrong with the gospel?

Why is it that people no longer sin but have a problem or a weakness? Is it because sin requires repentance & confession & problems or weaknesses gain sympathy.

Hi folks, welcome to my new blog. The purpose of this blog is to defend the gospel of Jesus Christ against liberalism & heresy & to let people know what God is doing in the world & especially here in Brazil.
We have just had a great speaker here at Lagoinha at 1st conference for pastors & their wives, his name is John Mulinde he is from Uganda. I would suggest you get hold of some of his material, it is dynamite.
His main preaching point was that God doesn't just have a plan for individual lives he also has a plan for individual Nations.
GOD IS CALLING HIS CHURCH IN EVERY NATION TO WAKE UP & FULFILL THEIR PURPOSE IN HIS REDEMPTIVE PLAN!!!
